What the fee buys
The whole settlement, not a step of it.
One payment covers the settlement from the moment it is created to the moment it closes: the invitations, each side's submission, the comparison, and the result both sides see.
Only the host pays.
The person who starts the settlement pays for it. Everyone they invite takes part without being charged, whether they already have an account or register from the invitation link.
The price does not follow the amount.
The fee is the same whatever a settlement resolves to, and the same if it resolves to nothing. Nothing is deducted from a settled amount.
Payment comes before contact.
Until the payment completes, the settlement sits at Awaiting payment and no invitation is sent. Nobody is contacted about a settlement that has not been paid for.
